All you've got is time.                                                                      June 2005
I've recently been giving a lot of thought to the notion of time, and have often struggled with the question of how to make everything balance and work in a very full and extraordinary life. I had a big "A-HA!" moment this month which had a major impact on me, and it is simply too good not to share. All you've got is time.
As someone known to be notoriously busy, I often found myself exhausted and whining & sniveling about how there was "never enough time" to cram everything in I wanted to do, give, and accomplish.

And then a very wise man of few words simply said to me,

"All you have is time. The idea of 'enough' or 'not enough' has no basis in reality. So choose wisely and shut up."

Those words hit me like a ton of bricks. I had been living in this illusion that no matter how much I did, it was never enough. And by whose standards? Mine! And here I was complaining about it...DOH! It was like I had been running in a hamster wheel trying to get ahead…but ahead of where? Now is all there is.

Consider that there is no such thing as 'enough'. That only exists in our minds, and it's all relative. Enough time, enough money, enough love, enough anything…

We are each the creators and masterminds of our own suffering, or our own delight! It is up to each of us to choose.

Michael Asuther

There are 24 hours in a day. Period. The only question is, "How will you spend yours?"
  • Make your moments count and make them memorable.
  • Create "special occasions" for no reason.
  • Say the things you want to say to the people you love.
  • Forgive.
  • Take chances.
  • Make the difference you want to make.
  • Be the person you've always wanted to be.

None of us is guaranteed a tomorrow. So if you know your days are numbered
(and they are!), how will you choose to spend your time?

*This month's message is dedicated to my dear and beloved "Uncle Rudy" who recently lost his battle with cancer, but whose spirit and sense of humor lives on in all of us who had the joy and privilege to know him.
