New Beginnings                                                                             April 2006

For most of us, calendar milestones (like birthdays or the start of a New Year) mark a time for planning, putting some personal goals in place, and getting excited about what lies in store for the year ahead. It's now April and I believe it would be fair to say that for a lot of people, the lofty goals we set out in january may by now be a distant memory.

"Stuff" happens, work gets busy, and we get into the daily groove of our lives. So will those same goals merely get transferred over to the start of 2007? I say NO!

The secret to accomplishing goals - especially the really BIG and daunting ones
- is to map out what is required (people, resources, actions needed), and then break that down into manageable chunks. Personally, I like to work in week-long intervals. I can commit myself to anything for a week, and it gives me an ongoing sense of accomplishment to look back each week and see the progress I've made. In fact, Monday is my favorite day because it's like a new beginning every week!

Whatever your goals are, consider that the path to fulfillment is like a marathon. How long it takes to reach the finish line is up to you, but the common denominator for everyone is that getting there only happens one step at a time.

Begin newly today! Map out your own milestones and be bold enough to declare your goals to the people in your life. Make a commitment to review your progress weekly. Once you commit and get in action (again and again and again!), miracles will show up in your life you couldn't have imagined. And by the end of the year, you'll be able to look back and reflect with awe and amazement at just how far you've come.

Cheers and a smile,
